Chapter 1: Packaging

No, I didn't sample the current world's strongest beer - I'll be doing that tomorrow evening (Thursday, December 31st). I did, however, manage to take it out of the box. As this item was shipped to me from Scotland, it had to pass customs. Of note concerning customs was the hand-written message in the details section for customs which described the parcel as "yeast sauce for analysis." It's also worth noting that there was a very ample amount of bubble paper, which I shall save for my son (he'll be very pleased).

The Tactical Nuclear Penguin (hereafter referred to as the TNP), once out of the box and free of bubble paper, was wrapped in a (very awesome) brown paper bag, complete with custom artwork. I've provided a picture of this below. At present, the TNP is being chilled for tomorrow's consumption.

Coming Soon (?)

My first real blog post (which will follow this "introductory" blog post) will concern itself with my acquisition and imminent consumption of the current world's strongest beer, BrewDog's Tactical Nuclear Penguin.

I consider myself a "beer geek" but am by no means any sort of expert, authority, scholar, etc. where beer is concerned - I'm just a fan who is on a continuing journey to explore and experience the world of beer. I'm also interested in the crafting of beer, and one of my 2010 goals is to create my own homebrew.

My "review" of the Tactical Nuclear Penguin will loosely follow the format of Pint Log, a site I've come to appreciate and enjoy. My interests in quality beer (and the crafting of homebrews) was due in no small part to Pint Log and the man behind it.

My hope is to open my bottle of Tactical Nuclear Penguin tomorrow, document my "findings" to the best of my ability (please note that my ability is limited), and then present the information here later in the week. I'm a lifelong procrastinator so "later in the week" could very well be NEXT week, or perhaps even a few months from now.
